Frequently Asked Questions

I placed an order today, when should I expect to receive it?

Virgo Moon is a very small operation, operated by three humans: Jilly, Ian and our part-time assistant, Ray. This means orders are often not processed and shipped out on the same day that the order was placed (though, that doesn’t mean it won’t happen!) On average, orders are packaged and shipped out 2-3x a week. We try to keep a small inventory of everything in stock, but sometimes your product may be made to order, which means it may take a bit longer to get to you - don't be surprised if you place a large order and it takes us 5 business days to ship it all out to you!

If you are working under a strict timeline or need these sweets for a special event, please contact us directly at info@virgomoonalchemy.com. Let us know your target date, and we will do our absolute best to align our kitchen schedule with your needs.

If you haven't received a shipping notification 7 business days after you placed your order, please email us. We're a small team of humans, we make mistakes sometimes.

Are your products organic?

One of the core values of Virgo Moon is QUALITY. Each ingredient is selected with the utmost care and attention, and we try very hard to source as local as possible and work with businesses with high standards of care that reflect our own. That being said, some of the ingredients have been certified organic, others have not.

All of the extracts and concentrates that we have not made in-house are sourced from Nature's Flavors and OliveNation.

Do you have a physical storefront?

No, we do not. Virgo Moon is operated from a 600 sq. ft. licensed kitchen attached to Jilly & Ian's home in Mechanic Falls, Maine. We appreciate you wanting to stop by, but please do not come by without contacting us first. We're usually making candy which requires focus and precision; interruptions could cause dangerous accidents.

Do you do astrology/tarot parties?

At this time, Jilly's services are not available for parties.

I’m interested in learning about astrology; what resources do you recommend?

The answer to this question depends upon what you hope to gain from an astrological study. In general, I have found the “Only Way to Learn Astrology” book series by Marion D. March & Joan McEvers to be a good place to start. The first astrology book I ever read was Joanna Woolfolk’s first edition “The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need,” which has recent editions that are still in print. Though, my personal favorite beginner’s astrology book is Glenn Perry’s “An Introduction to AstroPsychology.” I have also studied works by Dane Rudhyar (my favorite!,) Demetra George, Liz Greene, Steven Forrest, Jeffrey Wolf Green, Robert Hand, Judith Hill, Robert Pelletier, Jessica Lanyadoo (great podcast!,) Anabel Gat (born the same week as me!,) and so many more wonderful astrologers who have come before me. Though, I truly believe the best teacher is your own observations - my first 15 years of practicing astrology was spent collecting birthdays and looking up their Sun & Moon signs (check out Charles & Suzi Harvey's "Sun Sign, Moon Sign" book.) At the time, there weren’t handheld devices that could instantly cast a birth chart, so I often used back-of-the-book resources to look up this information. Now you have astrology resources everywhere! I highly recommend downloading the applications: TimePassages, Time Nomad, Iphemeris, and/or AstroGold and start looking at the charts of everyone around you, including the charts of significant events or moments in time.
