Mars square Pluto Rx

Mars square Pluto Rx

Mars square Pluto Rx: Tonight, at 10:13 PM EDT, Mars in Aries will form an opening square to Pluto Rx in Capricorn at 27º47’. This is the last time these forceful planets will form an opening square to one another while Pluto is transiting Capricorn. Mars and Pluto have similarities - they are both concerned with survival and they both can be destructive & violent in their pursuit of it. Mars is associated with our basic survival instincts and our will to live. Pluto is associated with our united survival reform and our desire for an internal wholeness that we feel when we merge with another. Mars is external, yang, pure impulse. Pluto is internal, yin, hidden motivations. Mars in Aries does what it needs to do on its own, independent from others, non-reflective, and unrestrained. Pluto in Capricorn is deep within our unconscious, it governs over our ingrained generational motivations and patterns towards achievement, success, and gatekeeping. Our collective transit of Pluto in Capricorn has been a long process of uncovering the hidden, and often insidious, forces behind our legacies. Topics such as: intergenerational wealth, intergenerational trauma, abuses of power in corporate and family trees, patriarchal social systems, colonialism, imperialism, the destructions & dehumanization of capitalism, etc., are all hot right now because we’re working with Pluto in Capricorn. This is meant to happen. We are meant to be questioning our relationships and unconscious dedications to the destructive structures within our lives and our roles in allowing them to survive.

My partner and I have Mars and Pluto conjunct in Scorpio in our Composite Chart (a chart that shows the energetics of a couple,) and they are in the 3rd house of communications. Our conversations tend to be intense, passionate and highly psychological. When we first got together, before we even started dating, we used to fight a lot - I think we were both fighting (Mars) for domination (Pluto,) but through our fighting we uncovered one another’s blind spots - and at first, it was hard. He would say things to me that cut deep into my psyche - things that angered me because they were ugly, but they were true. And I know I did the same to him. Now our relationship is much smoother - we still regularly call one another out for our bullshit, but our trust in one another is so strong that we don’t take it harshly or overreact, we acknowledge, make amends if we have to, and move on. When we tell each other our ugly truths, it’s almost like going to Confession. We let it all out and then we’re clean and shiny. That is the beauty of Mars and Pluto when they are working together in a healthy way - they can help direct us towards painful issues and remove them from our psyches. (I just had an image of a Doctor removing a tumor from a patient’s brain.)

This Mars square Pluto Rx transit today is likely to bring up uncomfortable situations that make us feel like we’re being backed into a corner and our only option is to act, and likely in highly defensive ways. There will likely be inappropriate displays of anger, entitlement, aggression. At the same time, Mercury will be forming an opening trine to Saturn Rx and an opening square to Neptune Rx (exact on Saturday.) This is a sprinkle of good sense (Mercury trine Saturn Rx) on top of a heavy dose of misunderstandings and distortions. If you’re feeling threatened at this time, by something or someone who holds power or influence over you, pay attention to your thoughts and the language you use. You could be misreading or misrepresenting the situation, and you may be reacting to an unconscious and unintegrated part of yourself or the other. So just take a moment to respond, reflect on the facts in the situation, and if necessary, assert your will - let others know that you are your own person and their abuses of power need to end.
This is all occurring around the same time that the Leo Moon makes an opening square to Uranus in Taurus, which would heighten the possibility of impatience and hasty reactions towards any sort of restraints.
Ideally, these unconscious collective forces (Pluto in Capricorn) will motivate us to make moves that would secure our autonomy and independence. This may look like a severance (Mars) from a patriarchal and oppressive structure or authority figure in our lives. This may look like piercing through our own entitlement. This may look like a rebirth of our deepest motivations. The Mercury trine Saturn Rx and Mercury square Neptune Rx can help us anchor our ideas (Mercury) into reality (Saturn Rx,) while still managing to include magic and compassion into the process.
There is so much that we have yet to know or learn - instead of being intimidated by the mysteries that surround us, engage with them, lean into them, and work with them. Pluto ultimately wants us to be consciously connected with environments, to reach a state where our wounds aren’t controlling us anymore.
